20 Questions Book Tag

Before jumping right into this, I want to thank Gee Liz Reads for tagging me to do this 20 Questions Book Tag! This was a lot of fun to do and I loved answering the questions πŸ₯°

I don’t have much more to say, for once, so let’s just get into it!

  1. HOW MANY BOOKS ARE TOO MANY FOR A SERIES?

AHh, honestly I don’t think there’s an answer for this! If I’m really loving a series, I would be more than happy if it just…went on forever (though, that probably wouldn’t be fun for the author). That being said, in general 3-5 books are usually just right and I don’t think you can go wrong with that.

I also have to acknowledge the fact that I am actually the worst at finishing series that I’ve started. There’s been so many times (I’ve lost count tbh) where I’ve read one or two books, liked them, and then just never finished with the rest of the book?? That is something I need to work on hahah.
  1. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT CLIFFHANGERS

I will leave you with the following to sum up my thoughts on this:

  1. HARDCOVER OR PAPERBACK?

Would it be weird if I said I really don’t have a preference? As long as the paperback isn’t a mass market, then I don’t mind either. I mean, hardcovers look prettier on shelves but paperbacks are cheaper, so I’m fine with whichever πŸ€·πŸ½β€β™€οΈ
  1. FAVORITE BOOK?

This is one question you NEVER ask a bookworm ‼️ Because I can’t pick just one, I will share a few:
(I wish I could include
more πŸ₯Ί)

  1. LEAST FAVORITE BOOK?

I wouldn’t say I have an absolute least favorite book, but Piper Perish and A Great and Terrible Beauty are two books I found to be problematic AND genuinely was just bored by, so I think it’s fair to say they’re part of the worst books I’ve read.
  1. LOVE TRIANGLES, YES OR NO?

    It depends Β―\_(ツ)_/Β―

There are some love triangles that are done really well (*cough* Legendborn *cough*) & others… not so much. I feel like most of the time it’s so. freaking. obvious. who the main character is going to end up with. Like in The Hunger Games, The Selection, Twilight, etc. it’s not that fun to write about because even if you’re rooting for “the other guy” you know in the back of your head he’s never going to get picked.

The reason I loved the love triangle in Legendborn was because it was never totally clear who the main character really liked and the reader was also stuck between the two guys (or at least I was). Basically, I love love triangles if they’re done well; otherwise it’s just annoying.
  1. THE MOST RECENT BOOK YOU COULDN’T FINISH?

Exit West, which I tried reading back in January, is the most recent one I put down. I don’t know if it was partly because I was too busy to fully concentrate on the book or party because I just straight-up wasn’t interested. A lot of people do love this one so I might try picking it up again if I’m ever in the mood, but who knows.
  1. A BOOK YOU’RE CURRENTLY READING?

Ugh, don’t even get me started on what happened this morning. I WAS SUPPOSED to be listening to China Rich Girlfriend on audiobook but ofc I didn’t finish it in time and had to return it while I was still only part way through πŸ™‚ It’s fine, I’m fine πŸ™‚

SO, because I had to return that book, I started listening to Yes Please by Amy Poehler.
  1. LAST BOOK YOU RECOMMENDED TO SOMEONE?

Remember a few questions back where I listed all my favorite books? Yeah, well that was me recommending all of those to you. So read them. They’re great.
  1. OLDEST BOOK YOU’VE READ BY PUBLICATION DATE?

I *think* that would be Beowulf, which after a quick Google search, tells me it was written in the 6th century. I read if for an English class at school and uhmm would not recommend tbh. Though, I was just checking it out on Goodreads and it has a lot of positive reviews so I guess I was just not smart enough to enjoy it πŸ€ͺ
  1. NEWEST BOOK YOU’VE READ BY PUBLICATION DATE?

I could go through all my recent reads and compare when they were written OR I could be lazy, tell you guys I have no idea, and move on.
    πŸ‘πŸ‘„πŸ‘
  1. FAVORITE AUTHOR?

There’s so many authors with works I love! The first few that spring to mind are Angie Thomas, Liane Moriarty, Tiffany D Jackson, and Sarah J Maas
  1. BUYING BOOKS OR BORROWING BOOKS?

A few years back or even a few months back I would’ve said buying books, without a doubt. Now, though, I’m starting to take advantage of my local library (which I’m so lucky to have) so I’ll go with borrowing books πŸ’™
  1. A BOOK YOU DISLIKE THAT EVERYONE ELSE SEEMS TO LOVE?

Red Rising :/ I’m so mad because the book genuinely sounds so interesting and plot is really fun, but it wasn’t for me
  1. BOOKMARKS OR DOG EARS?

Bookmarks! I know this is controversial but I do occasionally dog ear pages (actually, you should all be proud of me because I used to ALWAYS dog ear but not I hardly ever)
  1. A BOOK YOU CAN ALWAYS RE-READ?

I am a huuuuge fan of re-reading, so there’s a lot of books I could say for this! The Percy Jackson series is the most obvious answer since it’s so nostalgic and has basically every trope I love. I’ll also say A List of Cages and This is What Happy Looks Like are sweet and always good ones to go back to πŸ₯°
  1. CAN YOU READ WHILE LISTENING TO MUSIC?

Depends on the music! If it’s calming then sure, though I’d rather not listen to anything while reading.
  1. ONE POV OR MULTIPLE POVs?

One POV! Usually when there’s multiple, there is always a character I’m not as interested in compared to the others so those chapters are kind of a drag and I may or may not skim them.

Also, books that tend to have multiple POVs usually end chapters on cliffhangers or start another person’s chapter right when you’re getting interested in the one you were reading before sooo…not a fan of that.
  1. DO YOU READ A BOOK IN ONE SITTING OR OVER MULTIPLE DAYS?

It is very rare for me to finish a book in one sitting. But also, isn’t it the best feeling to just sit down on your bed or couch and just read through and get totally enveloped into the book you’re reading? Then, you finish and realize you’re back in the real world after hours have gone by?

^ So basically I prefer reading a book in one sitting but that hardly ever happens because life πŸ˜”
  1. WHO DO YOU TAG?

Morgan @ Morgan Is Reading Again

Hi friends! My name is Aarushi (she/her) and welcome to my blog πŸ’– I’m a 19 year old reader and decided to start this so I’d have a place where I could write down all my bookish rambles and thoughts! In addition to reading, I love to write in my free time and am currently working on my YA Fantasy WIP. Found family, rivals to lovers, and a historical backdrop are just a few tropes I've added in. I love interacting with other readers and writers so be sure to leave your comments so we can chat! Thanks for being here <33 All my socials are aarushireads :) *profile pic created by prequel

    1. Oh sweet, I’ll check out your post :))

& YES my thoughts exactly!! It felt like a more extreme version of The Hunger Games and Darrow just seemed like too “perfect” of a character. Glad I’m not alone 🀧

  3. Thank you so much for the tag!! πŸ₯° I loved reading your answers, and can’t wait to answer these questions!

I struggled with Red Rising and I don’t think all the hype around it helped! I never finished the series but it’s definitely one I want to try again soon! Legendborn has been on my TBR for ages, I’m obsessed with Arthurian legends so I’m pretty sure I’m going to love it! πŸ₯°βœ¨

    1. Of course! πŸ’–

Yeah, I bought the whole Red Rising trilogy because I thought it would be amazing but then struggled to even finish book 1 πŸ˜” I really hope you enjoy it if you decide to try it again! The plot and overall idea of the book is really intriguing.
Ooh yes, if you love anything to do with Merlin you’ll for sure enjoy Legendborn! I look forward to hearing your thoughts on it :))

Ahh, The Mark of Athena and The Book Thief are big favourites of mine too! I recently got this urge to reread all the Percy Jackson books, but I don’t own most of them, so I have to wait. 😭 I could read them from the library but I want to annotate them, so… πŸ˜…
Glad I’m not the only one who didn’t like Red Rising! I DNF’d it tbh, it was just so boring. πŸ˜…
