Emergency Contact | book review

So, it’s been a minute since I’ve done a review! June was kind of a weird month for me in that I wasn’t able to read as many books as I would’ve liked. There’s still a few days left so hopefully I’ll be able to get a few more in before the end of the month but regardless, I wasn’t able to really post any reviews. Of course, that is totally okay and I’m still happy with my reading πŸ’ž Anyways, I just finished reading Emergency Contact today and wanted to share my thoughts!

If there was ever a book that just felt “okay”, then this would be the one. I didn’t love it or hate it, the characters were interesting but not too much, and the plot was entertaining at some times but otherwise felt a little forced. All that being said, I personally would not recommend it, but I know a lot of people who actually did love it so I would say give it a try if it sounds like something you’d enjoy!

The New Releases Book Tag

This is my second back to back book tag post and honestly, I’m loving it! These posts are some of my favorite ones to do because I think it’s a fun way to talk about books I normally don’t get a chance to discuss on my blog. A huge shoutout and thank you to Morgan @ Morgan Is Reading Again for tagging me to do this!

Sour Album (Olivia Rodrigo) Book Tag

Okay you all, I have had Olivia Rodrigo’s new album Sour on repeat since it came out on May 21st. I. Am. Obsessed!!!! I honestly don’t think there is a skippable song on that whole thing because they all go so hard and are such bops 🎢 ANYWAYS, I saw that Ashmita @ The Fictional Journal created a tag for this album and I knew right away this was something I *had* to do.

If you asked me to pick a favorite song from the album, I could not do it. Seriously. My answer changes every day, but today I’m obsessed with Traitor, Brutal, and Jealousy, Jealousy.

Nonfiction Books: How to Read More and Recommending my Favorites

If you’ve been with me and my blog for a while, then it’s no secret that I 100% prefer fiction books to nonfiction. There’s just something about being swept away in the lives of people who don’t exist and fantastical lands that’s unmatched. That being said, I have read a good number of nonfiction books, whether it be for school or on my own and have actually enjoyed quite a few of them. I’ll also admit that memoirs are definitely my preferred sub genre within nonfiction as a whole, so there are more of those on this list of recommendations.

Although nonfiction books aren’t always the most enjoyable, they can be fun if you’re interested in the subject matter and want to learn more about things you didn’t know about before. That being said, there is no pressure at all to read more nonfiction. In the past, I’ve seen there being major prejudice against people who primarily read fiction and even have been told myself that I wasn’t a real reader because I didn’t read about real life things. That is just not true at all and over time I have learned that I 100% prefer nearly any other genre. πŸ€·πŸ½β€β™€οΈ All that being said, I do like to branch out occasionally from my comfort zone and have actually found myself liking some of the nonfiction books I’ve read. If you want to read more nonfiction and are not sure where to start, then this is the post for you!

Keep reading for tips on how to read more if you’re interested and some of my favorites!

Books I Read in May | monthly wrap-up

Is it just me or did May fly by way too fast?! I spent a lot of the month taking classes, having work, and also a little travelling for the first time in over a year πŸŽ‰ It has definitely been the best month of the year so far for me in terms of my mental health and just overall, so I take that as a huge win! A big part of that is I decided to step back from social media and putting pressure on myself to post. I archived a lot of old pics from my Bookstagram, and as much as I still occasionally go on there, I try not to spend more than 10 minutes. Everyone has their own limits and its important to know yours, but for me social media was just taking a huge toll so I did what I had to 🀧

Anyways, I also haven’t posted regularly on this blog because I’ve been more busy than usual but I haven’t been too inactive on here. This blog is honestly one of my favorite things to do and it genuinely makes me so happy to talk about books and get recommendations from so many other lovelies on here βœ¨πŸ’™

Getting into what you’re all probably here for lol, I read 6 books in May!! And I honestly enjoyed (almost) all of them, so that made me really happy as well. I was able to physically read a lot more as opposed to having to listen to audiobooks which was amazinggg to be able to do again :))
