It’s been a minute since I was tagged to do these, but hey, I’m finally getting around to book tags again! Thank you so so much if you’ve nominated me to do a tag and sorry it has taken me so long to get around to them. I promise I’ll catch up soon though, and today I’m going to be doing The Feelings Book Tag, which I was nominated to do by both Emily @Frappes And Fiction and Rania @Rania’s Rambling Reads . A Book That Made You Laugh

THERE’S SOMETHING ABOUT SWEETIE by SANDHYA MENON

I honestly struggled picking an answer for this prompt because I have a weird sense of humor and don’t really laugh out loud,,,ever in books. So There’s Something About Sweetie is the only book I could think of at all that even made me let out a small laugh so that is what we’re going with! This is honestly a really cute, light-hearted read and my favorite book of Menon’s.

Sweetie is also just the most amazing main character whom you couldn’t help but root for! She got into so many ridiculous situations but it was a lot of fun to read.

A Book That Made You Cry

OF MICE AND MEN by JOHN STEINBECK

Crying on the other hand,,,well let’s just say I had a lot of books to pick from to answer this prompt. This is actually something I had to read for school and didn’t expect anything out of it before starting. I really just thought it would be one of those boring classics that are required reading for some reason.

But no. This was much more complex (but also a very simple story) and the ending was just wow. I’m mostly thankful for the fact that I didn’t read this in public because there were full on tears coming 🤧 If you haven’t already, I would recommend this.

A Book That Made You Sleep With The Lights On

IN THE WOODS by TANA FRENCH

I know I *just* talked about this in my last post but there is genuinely not a single other book that has scared me more. Now, I’m not sure if it’s because of the circumstance in which I read most of this (home alone, in the dark) or what, but there’s just a very unsettling feeling you get while reading this.

And to clarify, I did not actually sleep with the lights on after reading this lol, but I was pretty close to it. All that being said, if you want a thriller that gradually gets creepier and creepier, then this is the one for you.

A Book That Changed The Way You Think About Something

THE PASSENGERS by JOHN MARRS

In all honesty, I only rated this book 2.5 stars. It was pretty underwhelming and not really what I’d hoped, but that being said it did broaden my perspective on the main topic of the book: self driving cars. This whole story covers all the ethical aspects when it comes to self driving cars and how we as a society would adapt to them if they were to become the normalized method of transportation.

I never gave much thought to the topic before, though I did know there was a lot of debate surrounding it. The Passengers really solidified my thought process that I would haaaate it if self driving cars became normalized for so many reasons.

A Book With A Character You’d Want To Be Friends With

SIX OF CROWS by LEIGH BARDUGO

Pfft, I’m sure you guys have never heard of this book, it’s so underrated! Anyways, this is quite an obvious answer but I would love to be friends with the crows. Love. Even though I’d probably feel like a 7th wheel, getting into trouble and having random adventures with alllll of them sounds like the most amazing time ever.

To make it harder on myself, if I had to pick just one of the dregs to be friends with it would probably be Nina,,,or Inej,,,or Jesper. One of those three. I love them all though 🥲

A Book You Had To Stop Reading Because Of Second-Hand Embarrassment

PRIDE, PREJUDICE, AND OTHER FLAVORS by SONALI DEV

Okay this really was a good book, but man, there were some scenes where I just had to put the book down for a second because wow-🤠 I don’t know if I can share the one really specific scene I have in mind that just made me cringe so hard for our main characters because it’s kind of a spoiler so you’ll just have to take my word that it was pretty embarrassing. For her. But also for me because I had to read that.

She also had kind of an awkward relationship with her family so anytime she interacted with them I was like girl, for the sake of both our sanities, please just stop 😔

A Book That Gave You Butterflies

THE SUMMER I TURNED PRETTY by JENNY HAN

Well I read this when I was in middle school, so keep in mind 1) my age at the time, like 12/13 and 2) the fact that this was the first contemporary romance I ever read. Since then I’ve read a lot more (better) ones but for nostalgic purposes I chose The Summer I Turned Pretty. At the time, I swooned so hard for the relationships in this book and the love triangle.

In hindsight, it’s not really the best book and I’m not sure how I’d feel about it now. But for it being my first romance, it did give me all the feels and all the butterflies too 🥰

A Book With A Ship You Will Support Till The Day You Die

PERCY JACKSON SERIES by RICK RIORDAN

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Percabeth will always be the superior ship. They are genuinely two of my all time favorite characters just based off their individual selves, but then the two of them together is just *chef’s kiss* the best.

I honestly don’t even know what else to say because nearly everyone I know has already read these books and if you’ve read them you know what I’m talking about. I have yet to meet someone who (gasp) doesn’t ship Percy and Annabeth because they’re just so lovable and perfect together

A Book You Knew You Would Love After Reading The First Chapter

BIG LITTLE LIES by LIANE MORIARTY

Not sure how she does it, but Liane Moriarty just has the most addicting writing style ever. I always manage to get instantly hooked into her books, and Big Little Lies was no exception. At the beginning of this story, we know that one of the character has been murdered. However, we don’t know who and we follow everything leading up to the murder, which happens at the end.

I always suggest reading this or any of Moriarty’s works if you’re in a reading slump because I just can’t imagine someone reading one of her books and not finishing it all in one sitting.

A Book You Knew You Would Hate But Read It Anyways

CARRY ON by RAINBOW ROWELL

Okay, I wouldn’t say I hated this, but it was definitely a less than average read for me. In general, Rainbow Rowell’s writing style just does not mesh with me at all and I’ve never particularly enjoyed any of her books that I’ve read. Fangirl, for example, was very meh for me, and considering Carry On is a spinoff (kind of?) of that, I didn’t expect to love it at all.

I was still somewhat hopeful that it would surprise me, but alas, it did not 🥲 It’s sad too, considering how stunning that cover is.
